Flash Forward Foundation is a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Bellevue, Washington. Students build small, rechargeable solar study lights so that other students without dependable electricity can study after dark. Each light is designed to work without a wall outlet.
A solar panel charges a battery during the day. Two LEDs provide reading light after sunset. The components sit inside a case printed by student volunteers. The parts for one light cost $5.17, and the volunteers who build it are not paid.
Volunteers print, assemble and check each light, then pack it for a partner organization that already works with schools and communities. As of October 2026, 72 lights have been built for three partners. 42 have shipped to Brighten Haiti. 15 are allocated to Loksadhana in India and 15 to Malaika in the DR Congo. Those thirty are not described as shipped.
